Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope Olympus Lext OLS4100

Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy (CLSM) is a combined optical imaging microscope which utilizes a set of optical lenses and a point scanning by monochromatic laser beam. 2D and 3D image of surface is acquired thanks to the point-scanning and confocal principle (single-plane acquisition). CLSM expands the possibilities of simple optical microscopes while it does not require prior surface preparation and is not as limited in terms of scanning range as scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It is capable to measure polymers, composites, ceramics, wood, bones, teeth, etc. including materials degraded by various means such as microorganisms, UV radiation, mechanical loading, etc. There are two sets of objectives with both short and long (rough surfaces) working distance mounted on a motorized software-controlled revolver, samples are placed on motorized software-controlled stage
